Paperback. Condition: New. Print on Demand. This book is a detailed, descriptive inventory of manuscripts and autographed letters in the University of London's Central Building Library. It includes one notable addition to the library's collection, a manuscript life of Edward, the Black Prince. The manuscript was a gift to the university from members of the institution in celebration of the honorary degrees of Master of Commerce and Doctor of Science of the University of London bestowed on Prince Edward, Prince of Wales. The Black Prince, eldest son of King Edward III, was a renowned military leader during the Hundred Years' War. The manuscript is believed to have been written by Chandos Herald, a domestic herald to Sir John Chandos, a friend and follower of the Black Prince. The author provides a detailed account of the prince's life and notable feats of arms. The book also includes a description of the prince's tomb in Canterbury Cathedral. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format.
