Y este desconocimiento de la motivación primaria es…, fundamentalmente, el que induce a errores de interpretación, porque "al parecer -la condición de conjetura es válida- el síndrome de los pacientes con cefalea está relacionado con una perturbación de los centros vasomotores centrales, de los vasos sanguíneos extra e intracraneanos y de la microcirculación." Una de las características más valorativas de esta obra es la clasificación nueva de las cefaleas y las jaquecas que propician sus autores, a la vez que describen minuciosamente los mecanismos del dolor cefálico, los exámenes de pacientes, las medicaciones y, en algunos casos, los estudios basados en sus propias observaciones y en la experiencia diaria. Cefaleas y jaquecas es el resultado de un trabajo colectivo que si bien está orientado en procura de una unidad de criterio, manifiesta la exacta medida de libertad científica con la que se logra un amplio y esclarecedor panorama acerca del tema. Los doctores Friedman y Poch, profesor de Neurología de la Universidad de Columbia en Nueva York y profesor adjunto de igual especialidad en la Universidad Nacional de Buenos Aires, respectivamente, junto a otros autores, llevaron a, cabo este trabajo de investigación, de excelente nivel científico, que será de suma utilidad para los especialistas y que por sus características didácticas y el criterio metodológico que lo preside, servirá de consulta para aquellos profesionales que se dedican a la clínica médica.
