Presumed first ed.; 425 p., clean and unmarked within on strong paper mildly age-toned; former owner's signature on upper edge pf map front end page; rear end page and pastedown sow "Comparative Charts Losses of Material;" frontis. photo of Gen. Patton; binding firm; in absence of d.j. the faintly stained red boards with faded but legible gilt lettering on black patch on faded spine have light bumping of corners and slight rubbing at crown and foot of spine.

Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. 1st Edition. Probably the second printing as the date of publication 1947 does not appear on the title page. If it did appear on the title page, it would indicate a first edition. No date other than 1947 appears on the copyright page. Red cloth binding is a bit age-dulled, but shows little wear. No slope, no twist, no distortion from reading or improper shelving. Pages are tight and clean with no marks. No broken hinges. Name in ink on the verso of the photo frontispiece of Patton. No musty odor. No tobacco odor. No water stains. No soiling. The dust jacket priced at $3.75 (not clipped) shows edge wear, light edge chipping. Spine is sun faded. DJ now in an archival protector to prevent further damage.

Original red cloth with dust jacket (spine discolored and some tears), paper a bit though evenly discolored, else in (very) good condition. Text in English. Few illustrations in black and white. Please see description or ask for photos.

First edition, 8vo., pp.xix,425, uncut, red cloth, top edges yellow, b/w frontispiece, b/w maps; ownership autograph, dated 1953, to front paste-down endpaper, foxing to edges, remains of dust-jacket pasted down to rear blanks, a tiny crease to cloth over spine, with just slight dulling to spine, a very good copy.
