Original 1873 1st edition of "Plain Directions for Acquiring the Art of Shooting on the Wing, with Useful Hints Concerning all that Relates to Guns and Shooting, and Particularly in Regard to the Art of Loading so as to Kill. To which has been added Several Valuable and Hitherto Secret Recipes, of Great Practical Importance to the Sportsman." The book is overall in very good condition with some minor signs of wear and age. The covers only have some light wear. The binding is good and sound. There is an old empty envelope with a period inscription adhered to the front pastedown and a penciled period name inscription to the front fep. The interior is lightly toned from age with some occasional mild foxing & grubbiness. One of the ad pages at the rear has a small tear to the top margin about an inch in length. Along with that there may be the very occasional page with some kind of other minor imperfection such as a creased page corner, tiny chip or tear, minor stain or marking, etc. Generally though, it's a nice copy. The book measures approximately 7 1/4 inches by 4 3/4 inches and is 88 pages long with some additional ads at the rear. Please look at all of the photos to further note the condition.…

Modest external wear, hint of sunning to spine, with a crack to gutter following title page (though binding is still sound); an old hunter's penciled notes to margins of three pages; Very Good.
