A beautiful red coloured hardback. The cover has a interior tear running along the front gutter which while not entirely loose is at risk of becoming so without gentle care there is evidence of attempts at repair, there is also a stamp bearing the name of a previous owner on the black page opposite the paste-down. The inside text and plates appear clean and clear of stains or writing. A new revised, corrected and enlarged edition. The first was published in 1841. Original attractive blind-stamped embossed red cloth with gilt lettering on front board and spine. Attractive gilt decoration to the spine showing foxes head, a horn and riding tackle. Joints frayed with some wear and generally bumped but still a nice copy. Frontis and first few pages have a light damp mark to the fore margin. The rest of the book and the Alken plates are very clean. A SCARCE EDITION IN ORIGINAL STATE.
