There is a short neat gift inscription signed by C. Hutcheson (related?) dated 1932. A dust wrapper is not present. This book is a collection of stories gathered under the title "Old Stories of Stones" were contributed by the late author to a local newspaper, a short time before his death in 1917. They were printed under the heading of "Hurly Haukin", and composed an enquiry into the origin and history of the Brochs in general, and of "Hurly Haukin" in Particular. Brochs were Iron Age round defended houses, found mainly in the north and west of Scotland. Brochs have a tapering profile and thick, usually hollow dry stone walls which contain galleries, cells and a stairway, with guard cells at the entrance. Illustrated. Ref ZZZ 2.
