Viene affrontato il tema del come "presagire le malattie", e l'Autore, in 36 capitoli, sostiene fermamente l'importanza dei dati empirici poggiati sull'esperienza, in ciò richiamandosi direttamente ad Ippocrate. Così l'opera veniva presentata nel Tomo XXV delle "Effemeridi letterarie di Roma" (Roma, Zempel, 1796): "Un'opera che un dotto medico presenta non già ad un Mecenate amplissimo, di stirpe chiaro e potente, ma ad un altro medico, e di più della classe primaria dee supporsi del pari dotta e importante ? ".
