Internally the book is well bound with just a hint of loosness to the spine. All of the endpapers are covered with a previos owner's mathemat…ical jottings although these do not impact the text. The half title has a tear along the gutter and a smaller tear to the lower edge. The textblock itself is toned with the occasional stain or fingermark. A decent reading copy The narrator, a Square, dreams of a one-dimensional world (Lineland) and is later visited by a sphere from three-dimensional Space, who tries to explain higher dimensions, but the Square is seen as a madman for his ideas.

The book uses the fictional two-dimensional world of Flatland to satirise the class and gender hierarchies of Victorian society, but the novella's more enduring contribution is its exam…ination of dimensions. The first two editions of Flatland were published in rapid succession in 1884, after which the work went out of print. Blackwell brought it back with this third edition in 1926, forty-two years later. Although the text includes a small number of revisions from the second edition, the book's physical presentation is nearly identical to the earlier editions. Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1926.
