Condition: Fair. 319 pages. No dust jacket. Beige cloth. Contains black and white illustrated and photographic plates. Pages are moderately tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Slight crinkling to paper at gutters, however binding remains firm. Plates are moderately tanned with some foxing. Occasional dog-eared corners. Thumb-marking present throughout. Boards have visible edge wear with corner bumping. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with some crushing to spine ends. Fraying to spine edges. Black marks with water staining to all surfaces. Pen scribbles to front board. Book has a slight forward lean.

Condition: Fair. No Edition Remarks. 319 pages. No dust jacket. Grey cloth boards with lettering. Contains black and white illustrations. Pages and illustrations are heavily tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Pencil markings to front free endpaper. Hinges are slightly cracked with exposed netting. Binding is slightly loose. Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Lettering is darkened. Moderate tanning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Minor splits to spine ends and corners causing cloth to be frayed. Visible wear marks to boards.

FIRST EDITION - IN THE ORIGINAL RED CLOTH : With an introduction by Albert Payson Terhune and illustrations reproduced from photographs, old prints, and a series of etchings by Diana Thorne. Titles stamped in black, black ruled borders. Verry good overall, clean, tightly bound, one minor cloth dint to top [l] of the upper board, no markings, good colour, but with a light fade, as often with red cloth coloured books. Light rubs only to the spine ends. Ffep with the top 20% cut neatly out { possibly previous owner removing a name or inscription ? }. Not a great miss! Contents are very good indeed. Although this book is found undated, there's an Author's note to page 11, dated 1929. 319 p., [16] leaves of plates : ill., diagrams. ;"Glossary": p. 309-311. Very good. [ S.J.].

Softcover. Condition: Very Good. Five stapled booklets in plain printed light card wraps. 8vos. All volumes have a little gentle edge wear to the card covers but are else neat, clean, bright and tight. These booklets contain a series of prints of articles and extended essays on aspects of the First Balkan War, 1912-13, which first appeared in either the Journal of the Royal United Services Institution or the United Service Magazine in 1913. Pallas Armata (literally Armed Athena, and also the title of a 1639 treatise on rapier fencing) was a series of reprints of important period memoirs and historical works published specifically for members of wargaming societies during the 1990s. It was intended to make rare and valuable works widely available at reasonable cost. The series was published by Gareth Simon, himself a wargamer, of Tonbridge in Kent.
