M. Powicke and A. B. Emden.The Reverend Hastings Rashdall was a influential both in his Anglican ministry, and in the creation of this work, which has long been considered one of the most comprehensive histories of the Universities of Medieval Europe.Includes Volume II: Italy - Spain - France - Germany - Scotland Etc., and Volume III: English Universities - Student Life.Volume III includes a monochrome photographic frontispiece by J. R. H. Weaver, and a folding map of University towns to the rear of the book, in excellent condition. Bound in original blue cloth. Externally, in lovely condition. Very slight shelf wear. Hinges on vol III slightly starting. The occasional marks to boards. Ink inscriptions to front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages consistently bright and clean.
