Nicolas Doxat (Yverdon 1682-20.3.1738 Belgrad), ref., von Démoret VD. Militär in Fremden Diensten, stand anfänglich in holländischen Diensten, trat 1712 in den Dienst Österreichs und nahm an Feldzügen in Sizilien und gegen die Türken teil. Als Militäringenieur entwarf er die Pläne verschiedener Festungswerke (1709-11) und befestigte das eingenommene Belgrad. Er nahm an der Eroberung von Nisch (Serbien) teil, musste aber die Stadt nach dreimonatiger Belagerung 1737 übergeben und erhielt freien Abzug. Darauf wurde er des Verrats angeklagt und 1738 enthauptet.
