Most of what I write here is from a diary, with insertions from memory of days when we hardly ate or slept, much less noted daily happenings." The Sergeants' Revolt (Spanish: Revuelta de los sargentos) , also called the Cuban Revolution of 1933, was a coup d'etat that occurred in Cuba in September 1933. It began as a revolt of sergeants and enlisted men in the military, who soon allied with student activists in the Directorio Estudiantil Universitario. E-157; 0.0 X 0.0 X 0.0 inches; 318 pages.…

Boards with light shelf wear and light age toning; pages dusty with light age toning; interior clean. Ruby Hart Phillips (1898 - 1985) was a New York Times correspondent in Cuba who covered the Batista regime and the rise of Fidel Castro. She reported from the island for 24 years, from 1937 to 1961. Personal animosity grew between them, and their contradictory coverage of the same events drew criticism from readers and media critics. Life became increasingly difficult for Phillips after the Cuban Revolution because of her anti-Castro temperament. She left Cuba for good in 1961, shortly after her home and office were raided and her Cuban colleagues were arrested.…
