Bandes (Weintrauben) allerdings auch nicht erwähnt, hat der hier vorliegende Band nicht 32 Farbtafeln, sondern 54, insofern ist Martini hier zu ergänzen. - Jan ?íha absolvierte eine Ausbildung zum Tischler und später als Gärtner und arbeitete sich durch seinen eigenen Fleiß zu einem führenden Experten für Obstsorten in Europa hoch. 1892 wurde er Bezirksgärtner in Chlumec, wo er 1919 im Auftrag des Landwirtschaftsministeriums eine staatliche Obstgärtnerei gründete. Er sammelte etwa 2000 Sorten von Obstbäumen und -sträuchern, die Grundlage des staatlichen Obstarboretums, das nach ?íhas Tod 1925 von seinen Schülern in Újezd bei Pr?honice gegründet wurde."
