Tyler Hallmark

Tyler Hallmark, Ph.D., is a proud citizen of the Cherokee Nation, born and raised in rural Oklahoma. A first-generation college graduate, former Pell grant recipient, and Gates Millennium Scholar, Tyler received his B.A. from the University of Colorado Boulder, his M.S.Ed. from the University of Pennsylvania, and his Ph.D. from The Ohio State University. Tyler's efforts to shed light on historically overlooked rural populations have earned recognition in Diverse: Issues in Higher Education and led to his appointment by the Ascendium Education Group to an advisory board that was tasked with establishing a National Rural Postsecondary Research Agenda. Presently, Tyler serves as a Program Associate with the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, where he helps oversee a portfolio of more than 11 million dollars, seeking to effectively advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM graduate education. Tyler also serves as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University.
