Il volume, prima organica monografia di un importante interprete dell'architettura italiana della seconda metà del Npvecento, ne indaga la lunga carriera, caratterizzata dall'amicizia non solo con Nizzoli ma anc…he con Gio Ponti e Bruno Zevi, e completata sia dall'impegno di urbanista in varie Commissioni e all'interno del Gtcuc per l'elaborazione del Prg di Ivrea del 1955, sia dall'impegno istituzionale (membro di Inu e In-Arch) e civile (presidente della sezione eporediese di Italia Nostra). Dopo un'introduzione storica che inquadra la figura di Annibale Fiocchi, il volume presenta i principali lavori dell'architetto dai quartieri Ina-Casa di Canton Vigna e Canton Vesco, alla colonia Olivetti a Marina di Massa al palazzo uffici in via Clerici a Milano, (opera che gode di una notevole quanto controversa fortuna critica e che frutterà alcuni riconoscimenti internazionali, tra cui l'invito ai tre progettisti, al concorso per la sede dell'OMS a Ginevra), al palazzo uffici Olivetti a Ivrea, al laboratorio della Solvay, allo stabilimento del Calzaturificio di Varese. In particolare, la sede della Mazzucchelli a Castiglione Olona sperimenta l'adozione di componenti e rivestimenti (anche esterni) in materie plastiche prodotte dalla ditta medesima. Tutti i lavori confermano un approccio contrassegnato dall'essenzialità del linguaggio e dal rifiuto di soluzioni mimetiche negli interventi in tessuti stratificati. Libro.
