The purpose of this book is to show that, even if the prospective architect has the ability to design, this of itself will not be sufficient to enable him to practise successfully. He will have many other duties to perform, and much of his time will be spent away from his drawing board. The range of knowledge that he must acquire is very wide. This edition has been thoroughly revised and enlarged with substantial additions. Amongst new subjects introduced are metrication, the Form of Agreement for Minor Building Works, the building owner's financial sources and Local Authority consortia. New statutes, such as the Land Commission Act 1967, the Town and Country Planning Act 1968 and the Building Control Act 1966 (on which action is temporarily suspended) also receive attention. More of the current standard forms are reproduced in facsimile and the typical schedule of doors is a metricated example.
