The aim of this text is to provide undergraduates of business management and information technology courses with an explanation of systems analysis and design, with a real-world emphasis. Using the systems development life cycle approach, it guides the reader through the various phases of systems development. It includes chapters on on-line systems, microcomputer systems, database, data communications and external resources that focus on their relative impact on systems analysis. Contemporary issues, tools and techniques, such as the use of export systems, story boards, phototypes and capacity planning, are typical of the concepts included within the various discussions. An ongoing case study is featured throughout the text to give the student an opportunity to apply concepts.
