Fourth printing. Inscribed and signed by the author on the half-title page: "To Amber / A Gift from God. May you be a wonderful parent. / Love, / Mom / Sara Lawrence-Lightfoot." Laid in is a bookmark with the inscription printed out, which the former owner no doubt gave to the author to replicate. Lawrence-Lightfoot is a MacArthur prize-winning Harvard sociologist who will become, upon retirement, the first African American woman with an endowed professorship at Harvard. The book is square and unmarked; one corner and tail of spine lightly bumped. The dust jacket is not price-clipped (original price $24.95); light edgewear at spine ends and corners; Brodart protected.
