Quarto. 682 pages, indexed. SIGNED BY AUTHOR. 1st Edition. This listing is for VOL ONE ONLY. Hardcover bound in green cloth. Cover has light to moderate rubbing and wear. Map illustrated endpapers. Book clean and sound. Illustrated with a couple of portrait photos at the front. This volume contains entries from 1834 to 1892, including some of the Civil War years. Samuel Rothrock (1809-1894) was a Lutheran Minister serving churches mainly in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties, North Carolina, but he also served in Stanly, Guilford, and Alamance Counties. In 1835-1836 he was in Franklin and Fulton Counties, Pennsylvania. He preached both in English and German, sometimes at the same service. He was born in Forsyth County, North Carolina, and at 19 he walked to Gettysburg, PA for his education (a trip that took 20 days on foot), walking back to North Carolina when he was done. He died in Rowan County.

Store description

Pages Past is a small used and antiquarian bookshop holding 10,000-15,000 volumes. We are located a few blocks from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Most of our books are hardback, although we have a few bookcases of paperbacks with recent fiction and classic literature represented. We also have a fairly good collection of Eastern Philosophy & Religion (Buddhism, Taoism, Hinduism) as well as New Age. Most of these are recent paperbacks in nice condition. We have a good collection of antiquarian books in the fields of Americana, old leather bound books, and early religious and scholarly books. Shop hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays. We're closed on Sundays. We are always interested in buying quality books in very good condition.
