This is the story, during the years 1941-1943, of Captain Atholl Duncan of the 2nd Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, who was captured by the Japanese in Java in March 1942 and of his fiancee Elizabeth Glassey. The story is told through their diaries and letters.
