Brown cloth hard cover with gilt titles on spine and front board with gilt decorative flowers also on front, some edge wear mostly confined to spine ends and mildly bumped corners. Inside front cover is a book plate - Presented by A W Page in 1923 to Bath Public Reference Library, but none of the usual lending library stamps. Quite clean interior with xix, 366 pages, 32 pages of advertisements and frontispiece of Lowder with author's signature, which is presumably a facsimile. Published in 1881 this 1st edition is in very good condition. Seller Inventory # 003443

Condition: Fair. 1882. Third Edition. 366 pages. No dust jacket. Brown cloth with gilt lettering and designs. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages, text block edges and free endpapers. Pen inscription to reverse of frontispiece. Moderate cracking and staining to gutters and hinges causing some looseness to binding but pages remain attached. Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with mild staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with visible splitting, fraying and crushing to ends.
