Zu der Silhouette f�r den Katalog wird es �brigens vielleicht dann schon zu sp�t sein? Bei diesem Anlasse erlaube ich mir Sie aufmerksam zu machen, da� in dem Katalog f�r 1907, in dem Sie mein Bild bringen wollten, nicht eines meiner B�cher genannt ist und mein Name gar nicht vorkommt [.]". - Max Burckhard war Dozent f�r Privatrecht in Wien und Min.-Vizesekret�r im Unterrichtsministerium. Von 1890 bis 98 als Direktor des Wiener Burgtheaters t�tig, bem�hte er sich "besonders um die Pflege des modernen Dramas, f�hrte Ibsen, Hauptmann, Schnitzler, Hofmannsthal, aber auch Raimund, Anzengruber und volkst�mliche Klassiker auf. Er engagierte u. a. F. Mitterwurzer, A. Sandrock, L. Medelsky, O. Tre�ler, J. Kainz" (�BL, Bd. I, 127). Nach seiner Entlassung wurde Burckhard zum Hofrat am Verwaltungsgerichtshof ernannt. In der Folge wirkte er als Theaterkritiker und schrieb Romane, Novellen und Volksst�cke ( Im Paradies , 1907). - Der Verlag von Moritz Perles (1844-1917) z�hlte zu den "f�hrenden Unternehmen auf dem Gebiet des Kommissions-, Sortiments- und Verlagsbuchhandels in �sterreich-Ungarn" (DBE), so gab er u. a. die Wiener Medizinische Wochenschrift , das Centralblatt f�r die gesammte Therapie und das �sterreichische Centralblatt f�r die juristische Praxis heraus. In seinem Verlag erschien u. a. Krieg der Welten von H. G. Wells. - Auf Briefpapier mit gedr. Briefkopf und gestemp. Eingangsvermerk in der rechten oberen Ecke.

We dedicate special attention to the estates and archives of important personalities of the arts and sciences in European and world history. Through specially prepared archive catalogues we have been able to sell the archives of Viktor L�on (librettist, 1859-1940), Leo Fall (operetta composer, 1873-1925), Lotte Lehmann (singer, 1888-1976), Otto Tressler (actor, 1871-1865) and Max Reinhardt (director, 1873-1743), as well as the last privately owned important original manuscripts by Ludwig Wittgenstein (philosopher, 1889-1951). Along the lines of this specialization our buying policy concentrates especially on these fields.
