Ce livre est d'abord le r�sultat d'une exp�rience personnelle. Michel Rochet a longtemps ignor� sa maladie. Les reconna�tre est d'ailleurs une des difficult�s des troubles bipolaires, le nouveau nom pour la psychose maniaco-d�pressive (ou " PMD ") : le diagnostic est objectivement difficile, et la fr�quente confusion avec la d�pression simple n'arrange rien, bien au contraire. En outre, une fois le bon diagnostic pos�, il faut encore qu'il soit accept� par le patient et que le ou les m�decins traitants soient inform�s des traitements r�cents, de leur suivi et de leurs risques. L'exp�rience douloureuse de Michel Rochet et de ses proches s'est �tal�e sur plus de vingt ans. Il a subi des turbulences, son humeur passant souvent d'un extr�me � l'autre. Il a perdu sa famille, la plupart de ses amis et son travail, n'ayant plus pour ressources que le RMI. Gr�ce � son dernier psychiatre, il a enfin accept� de mettre un nom sur la cause de ses souffrances : les troubles bipolaires. Enfin, il s'est battu aupr�s des administrations pour faire reconna�tre ses droits. Fort de son exp�rience, il veut d�sormais faire profiter les autres de son savoir et de son savoir-faire : les malades qui sont conscients du mal qui les ronge, ceux qui doutent, et leurs proches. Ce livre aura atteint son but si Michel Rochet parvient � �viter � d'autres, au moins en partie, tout le g�chis qu'il a lui-m�me subi trop longtemps.

Michel Rochet est maniaco-d�pressif depuis l'�ge de 15 ans, et souffre aussi de TOC. Apr�s avoir quasiment tout perdu, dont sa famille, du fait de son handicap, il a su retrouver le chemin de la stabilit�, et a fond� les associations Argos 2001 et Argos 2002. Jean Hossenlopp a, parall�lement � son activit� professionnelle, d�vou� sa vie � aider autrui, aux c�t�s de l'abb� Pierre, d'abord, puis dans des associations caritatives en Afrique.
