This book contains the first fictional use of the words "base ball" to describe the game, and contains historical references to the difference between the "New York" game rules versus the "Massachusetts" game rules. Very good green pebbled blind stamped cloth with bright gilt fishing scene. Minor wear to spine ends and gutter. Vintage penciled inscription to flyleaf. 224 pages plus 4 pages of ads. A wonderful copy of this scarce title.
