First edition w/NAP, hardcover published in conjunction with the 1987 Red Groom' exhibition at the Whitney Museum of Art, has a lean to the binding, a ding with a small scrape to the head of the front cover, lighter bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, and some creasing along the edges and folds of the interior. Some of the pop-up material and folders are creased. The first page of the text is soiled. Five of the six pop-ups are in wonderful working order. The cowboy is detached in the 5th pop-up. In 1957, when Red Grooms was twenty, he went to Provincetown to enroll in Hans Hoffmann's summer school. This interaction with one of the pioneers of Abstract Expressionism established the future course of his art. From the rear cover- "Ruckus Rodeo re-creates in book form one of artist Red Grooms' remarkable 'sculpto-pictoramas,' as he has dubbed his endlessly popular walk-through artworks.
