Owner?s signature of Axel �hlander 1909 and of Dag Str�mb�ck, Uppsala 1920 and with his bookplate. First edition of Joseph Wrights (1855-1930) first book of Gothic grammar. It contains a grammar and glossary for the Gothic language, along with excerpts from the Gospel of St. Mark and other biblical passages. A second edition was published in 1899. In 1910 instead of publishing a third edition of the Primer he transformed it into a new work ?Grammar of the Gothic Language? ?Wright had a significant personal influence on J. R. R. Tolkien and was one of his tutors at Oxford. Studying the ?Grammar of the Gothic Language? (1910) with Wright seems to have been a turning point in Tolkien's life? (Wikipedia).
