About this Item
Undated, but circa 1975? Plain brown wrappers, hand-written title-page. With Alan Anderson's manuscript note at the end, "A reprint commissioned by the late Ian Grant, bookseller, who intended to write an introduction. This was never done, and the work was abandoned. A.A." Anderson's first post as a bookseller was with the family firm of Ian Robertson Grant (1915-1990), John Grant Booksellers on George IV Bridge, Edinburgh; later he designed catalogues for them. Steven Halliwell, the Tragara Press's bibliographer, suggests "about 10" copies of A Perfect Description were printed. "First for the Country, I must confess, it is good for those that possess it, and too bad for others, to be at the charge to conquer it. The aire might be wholesome, but for the stinking people that inhabit it. The ground might be fruitfull, had they the wit to manure it . . .". Seller Inventory # 32M100344
