About the Bookseller

James Fergusson has dealt in books and manuscripts since 1977. His most recent printed book catalogue is MR GEORGE SIMS REGRETS, a celebration of the writings and book catalogues of George Sims (1923-1999), bookdealer and crime writer. His previous catalogue TRAGARA celebrated the work of Sims's friend Alan Anderson (1922-2016) and the Tragara Press, Edinburgh. Other catalogues have included TWO MAGPIES, letters and papers from the collections of Jonathan Gili, Christopher Lennox-Boyd and others; A SEAT AT THE TOURNAMENT, books and papers from the collections of Siegfried Sassoon, Margaret Drabble and others; EVERY PRINTED PAGE IS A SWINGING DOOR, books from the library of the poet David Gascoyne (1916-2001) and his wife, Judy; SPICILEGIUM SCOTICUM, a selection of (mainly) Scottish books from the libraries of Sir Herbert Grierson and others; and AHASUERUS THE BOOKSELLER, a biography-by-book-catalogue of Robin Waterfield (1914-2002), bookseller, publisher, writer and missionary. He also regularly issues e-catalogues, miscellaneous and specialized.
