About this Item
20th-century cloth-backed marbled boards, printed paper label. With the title-page ownership (or presentation?) inscription, "Mary Ellen Headman December 26: 1858", and later presentation inscription, "Hattie Cason from her loving Father W J Cason" - i.e. Hattie Azippah Cason (1880-1951) from William John Cason (1847-1923), sometime carpenter/clerk of works in Homersfield, Norfolk; 10pp. of publisher's advertisements at end. Cecilia Lucy Brightwell (1811-1875; was she also the illustrator? - three of her true tale's engravings have been not unpleasingly hand-coloured) lived most of her life in Norwich.
