The true First Edition, 1923. Complete octavo volume (xi, 570 pages). The definitive, classic twentieth-century British botanical monograph and identification reference manual detailing global conifer species, gymnosperms, and the ancient lineage of the Ginkgo biloba. Executed with clinical precision by renowned Kew authorities William Dallimore and Albert Bruce Jackson. The text offers exhaustive taxonomic descriptions, geographical distribution metrics, cultivation requirements, and economic timber valuations for every key family unit. Beautifully and copiously illustrated throughout with a fine photographic frontispiece plate, 46 full-page photographic plates showcasing historic arboretum specimens, and 131 highly accurate structural botanical line drawings executed by the celebrated natural history artist Miss G. Lister. Concludes with a comprehensive index and an 8-page publisher's advertisement catalogue at the rear.Condition Report:An exceptionally well-preserved, robust, and heavy volume in solid Very Good condition. Bound in the publisher's original rich forest green cloth with vibrant, bright gilt titles and ruling to the spine. The cloth retains a highly attractive, deep colour profile, exhibiting only minor, surface marks/splashing that are not noticeable under normal room conditions and only discernible when held directly to a raked light source. Structurally square, tight, and remarkably strong. Unlike most surviving copies of this massive, heavy text block, the internal hinges and joints remain perfectly secure and unbroken. Internally brilliant; the high-quality paper stock is exceptionally bright, white, and clean, entirely free from the heavy foxing, browning, or damp stains common to vintage forestry books. Free of any previous owner names, library stamps, or annotations. A superb, reference-grade example of the true first printing.…

Store description
I have collected books most of my life. My collection has reduced now to about 4,000 items. I list a few more as time goes by! It is difficult sometimes to allow old friends to move on. Of course, they can find fresh enthusiasm from their new owners. No matter how many items you handle, there's always excitement and interest. It is vital however that my items are described accurately and I would hope to offer good value. If you see something that you feel is 'too high' for your pocket, don't hesitate to make me an offer. I try to keep the postage costs down, and within the United Kingdom this will be free. Posting abroad will be competitive, and often I will not ask for additional amounts if this is viable. But weight of items is the deciding factor. I will add images to my descriptions, and I hope that the combination will help you to decide. Regardless, always double check or take time to contact me for further information, or merely just to clarify a point. Ask for more images. If I can reduce anything I will do so. If you purchase more than one item, then offering a decent discount is likely. If items are not as described or you have a valid problem with any item, then I am happy to make a full or partial refund. This will be in line with all Statutory guidelines e.g returning the book in the condition it was delivered, and do let me know as quickly as possible. If damage has occurred then try to provide images. Ring me on 01352-810931…
