And James J. Crowell. Illustrated. 259 pages. Excellent biography of the multiple US Amateur Champion and US Open Champion. Copies of the first edition were bound in two covers. One is green cloth with black lettering, however, the preferable one is green with yellow coloring and black lettering. This is the preferred cover in very nice condition, bright with no loss to yellow paint. Rear cover one dark spot and lightly stained near spine, spine cloth lightly faded. Original endpapers clean and bright, contents also bright and unmarked except for a lower page edge stain between pp. 4 and 5 not affecting text, archival repair lower page edge p. 4.
