About this Item
Illustrated colour frontispiece of portrait of the author by Augustus John. There are several other plates ( all present as listed) and line drawings. With a foreward by L.P. Hartley. An extensive work of over 500 pages with many public and literary figures appearing. In original cloth with gilt titling in pictorial dust wrapper complete with original price. Loosely enclosed is a handwritten letter to Ursula Codrington from The Earl of Wemyss, thanking her for making some alterations to the text. Codrington was on the staff at Hutchinson; Wethys was a relative of Lady Cynthia. In addition to this item, there is a proof copy of the Diaries, which is sold with it. The proof copy is slightly torn at the head of wrapper, there is some soiling to the cover and the foredge is marked. There is some matter cut out from pages 111-115. There is an ownership signature of Ursula Codrington on the cover. A very interesting collection. All books outside the UK are sent airmail and those over £30 are tracked; those inside the UK are signed for. Paypal accepted. All dust wrappers are film protected. Seller Inventory # 6955
