Bound volume of Chambers Journal of popular literature, science and arts for the year 1887; this volume contains complete serializations of 1 Victorian novel and other novelettes and short stories: Richard Cable, the Lightshipman. [By Sabine Baring-Gould.] and a quite scarce early title by Fred M. White: ‘The Old Secretaire: a Christmas Story.’ Also stories by T. W. Speight and others Bound in dark green cloth with spine lettered and decorated in gilt. This is the true First Edition of these novels, the serializations appearing before the published book form. This short novel was the third written by White, who thus begins a long storied career writing mystery and science fiction. Very Good condition, mild overall handling wear, text clean and tight, front free endpaper removed.
