First UK edition. 8vo., green cloth boards, maroon motif to the center of the upper board, gilt lettering to the spine, with the original dust jacket; pp. [iv] 5-254 [ii]; A very good copy. The Hans Tisdall jacket hasn't been price clipped displaying 9s. 6d. net. There is edgewear to the spine ends and a corner. The lower panel has a couple of tiny chips to the bottom edge. The green cloth boards have several foxing marks to the edges. Hemingway's post war novel about a Colonel in the US army and the toll conflict has taken on him.
