For those of us who grew up in the 1990s, certain themes were inescapable. The Teletubbies, The Spice Girls, and taking care of our Tamagotchis all coloured our days. But in between watching Round the Twist and eating Frubes, we made time to read. And far beyond television, books opened our imaginations, and opened doors to strange, wonderful and frightening realities. Sometimes, the itch and ache to know what happened was too much to bear, and we fought off sleep, reading late into the night by the light of a torch, unable to stop turning the pages of riveting stories.
If you were a child growing up in the nineties, chances are these are some of the books you remember.
