Condition: Good. 1965. First Edition Thus. 131 pages. Illustrated dust jacket over red cloth covered boards with gilt. Pages remain clear with minimal tanning and foxing. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is bright and clear. Book has a slight forward lean. Unclipped jacket has moderate edge wear with chips, tears and creasing.

Small soil mark on foredge, light bumping at the crown, near fine in a very good or better dust jacket with light rubbing, and a short tear on the rear panel. Long considered the first novel written by an Australian Aborigine, Johnson became a dominant figure in Aboriginal literature. However, an article in 1996 revealed that, perhaps unbeknownst to the author, he was probably not an Aborigine at all (according to the article his mother was Irish-English and his father was African-Irish).
