Add to basketSoft cover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Edition. Illustrated softcover museum publication, extensively illustrated in color and black-and-white with historic portraits, photographs, plans, documents, interiors, furnishings, and objects from the Imperial collections. The copyright page explicitly states "First published June 2000," making this the first 2000 publication rather than a later reprint. Library cataloging independently confirms Vienna, Schloss Schönbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H., 2000, 104 pages, English language, and the same ISBN. A richly produced guide to Vienna's Hofburg and its Habsburg collections, beginning with the history of the palace and Habsburg dynasty before moving through the Imperial Apartments, the apartments of Emperor Franz Joseph and Empress Elisabeth "Sisi", the Alexander Apartments, the former Silver and Table Room, court household organization, and highlights of the Imperial Silver Collection. Particularly useful are the floor plans locating the individual rooms and collections, period photographs of the Imperial interiors, portraits of Franz Joseph, Elisabeth and other members of the Imperial family, and photographs of surviving table services and furnishings. The book was published by the organization responsible for the historic imperial properties rather than by a conventional commercial publisher, giving it the character of an official museum publication. Design and layout by Atelier Olschinsky, printed by ALPINA Druck GmbH, Innsbruck, with translations credited to Ingrid Haslinger and Sophie Kidd. Copyright ©2000 Schloss Schonbrunn Kultur- und Betriebsges.m.b.H., Vienna. Condition: Very Good+. Clean, attractive and firmly bound, with bright glossy pictorial wrappers and clean interior. Light shelf/handling wear is visible, including modest rubbing and small edge/corner abrasions, particularly around the upper rear edge. A retail barcode label remains affixed to the lower rear wrapper. No dust jacket, as issued in wrappers. First publication / First Edition, June 2000 - English language issue. Although the cover prominently advertises the "Sisi Museum," this book was first published in June 2000, whereas the Hofburg's dedicated Sisi Museum was subsequently developed and opened in 2004. The publication therefore belongs to the period in which the Hofburg's presentation of Empress Elisabeth was evolving toward the dedicated museum experience familiar to visitors today. That makes this more than simply a later souvenir guide: it preserves an earlier stage in the interpretation and presentation of the Imperial Apartments and Elisabeth collections. The physical design reinforces its museum origin. Rather than adopting a conventional trade-book format, Atelier Olschinsky uses generous white space, floor plans, archival imagery and full-page photographs to lead the reader through the Hofburg almost as an extension of an on-site visit. The cover portrait of Elisabeth makes the empress the visual center of the publication while the contents place her within the much broader architectural, dynastic and material history of the Hofburg.…

Condition: Neu.
