Starting from a posthumanist perspective, the thematic issue examines literary, medial, and performative modes of representing networks of the living. The assumption of an effective agency of plants, fungi, lichens, and animals in their transcorporeal interactions with humans provokes both new ways of thinking about multispecies relationships and aesthetic experiments. By examining intertwined, responsive, and other interspecies connections, the contributions firstly challenge the previous anthropocentric hierarchies. Second, they show how the diverse experiments in literature, photography, video, film, and performance expand the boundaries of conventional genres and subvert Western categories. Third, new transitions between art, research, and mediation are explored. And fourth, the contributions illuminate how attention to natural-cultural interactions and metamorphoses leads to a transformation of the subject and inspires creativity.
