Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Dust Jacket. First American Edition. (no dust jacket) [a good sound copy, fading to a postcard-size rectangular area on the front cover, one-time owner's extensive ink notes on the front endpaper (name, date & place of purchase, brief note about references within to a specific hotel in Edinburgh), vintage bookseller's label (Bullocks Book Shop, Los Angeles) on rear pastedown]. Mystery novel (subtitled, in its original British edition, "a romance of high hazard"), the first by this Canadian-born author and journalist (1892-1989) of Scottish descent. So Ronny Drysdale and his bosom friend dash off to Brackenridge Hall to take possession, and, of course, are shot at, clouted over the head, and generally misused through many mildly exciting chapters.".…
