Hardcover. Condition: Near Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Frank Lloyd Wright; A Testament; Architectural Press, London, Horizon Press, New York, 1957. With 210 illustrations. This is the British first edition, basically the same physical book as the American first edition. This book was printed in the United States. The… price of $12.50 on the bottom of the dust jacket fly leaf has been blacked out and a sterling price of 70s appears beneath the blacked out American price. On the title page, the name of the British publisher was printed separately and then glued in place. From the blurb In the nearly seven decades since Frank Lloyd Wright began to work as an architect in Chicago, his indomitable dedication has created a new epoch in architecture; his work has been transforming the aspect of the world; the accuracy of his prophetic vision is being confirmed again and again. And now, the publication of his long-awaited A TESTAMENT, his first new book in ten years, is bound to be regarded throughout the world as an event of deep importance to us in our time and to future generations. He gives us at last his own story of a lifetime of experience, distilling the essence of his eventful life and his work in a book of unprecedented range and fascination. This book includes, in a magnificent foldout four pages high, Frank Lloyd Wright's enthralling detailed presentation, in drawings and plans, of the twentieth century miracle of building: THE MILE-HIGH SKYSCRAPER CITY, planned to be built of glass and gold-colored metal. This large format book, 256 pages measuring 302mm X 227mm, is in near-fine condition. Stamped on the first free endpaper is: Received C. A. Fowler & Co.; Mar 23, 1961. C. A. Fowler is also stamped onto the foredge of the pages. Provenance is always of interest. The dust jacket is in very-good condition, and it is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. A very collectible copy of an important book by a twentieth century architectural giant.
