Contact seller5-star sellerHardcover. Condition: Fine. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Illustrated Edition. "THE TEN COMMANDMENTS - A Novel" by Henry MacMahon with its original dust jacket. 1924; Grosset & Dunlap; New York. From Jeanie Macpherson's Story Produced by Cecil B. DeMille. Illustrated with full-page, black & white photographs from the photoplay. The book is directly based on Macpherson's screenplay for Cecil B. DeMille's monumental 1923 silent epic film. Unlike DeMille's more famous 1956 remake which focused entirely on ancient history, this specific 1920's story divides into two distinct parts: 1) The first half is a religious extravaganza covering the scriptural narrative of the Exodus from Egypt, Moses leading the Israelites, the parting of the Red Sea, and the receiving of the Ten Commandments. 2) The second half shifts directly into the 1920s Jazz Age. It follows a contemporary moral story about two brothers—one who willfully breaks every commandment to achieve rapid success and wealth, and another who chooses to live a quiet, moral life. The narrative serves as a dramatic warning about the consequences of neglecting timeless divine laws in modern society. Condition: The book is in Fine condition and appears unread - clean both inside and out with no notable issues found. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Both covers are firmly attached. A very nice copy. The dust jacket has tanning to the flaps, and a small tear at the top-left corner of the front cover.overall the jacket is in Very Good+ condition.
