Blue cloth, ornate gilt grotesque motif on cover and ornate titles to spine. Minor wear top and bottom of spine, some offsetting to the plate guards, charcoal coloured endpapers and AEG (all edges gilt). A handsome copy of this work. Originally published in 1845, this second edition was just as well produced with no loss of quality to the printing or faithful implementation of the etched plates that appeared in the first edition. tall [crown] octavo. Some pages in the beginning of book are fragile and loose with tears on the edges and an attempted mending with tape. Title page is detached resting inside. Aged pages have some foxing but include many black detailed illustrations through out.
