Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. First edition hardcover, published by Whitman, 1943. Written by Roy Snell with illustrations by Erwin L. Darwin. This is a rousing adventure story! We're in the middle of World War II, and Sparky Ames and Mary Mason land in the Brazilian jungle on an adventure that takes them to Africa, Persia and around the world! 5-1/2" X 7-7/8", 248 pages. Bright green colored cover boards, with the title imprinted in red on the front cover and spine. Very little wear to the cover boards. This is a World War II era book, so the paper stock is of a somewhat lower quality than usual. So, it's a little bit brittle, though all pages are still tightly bound. There are a few chip marks to the edges of the text, the biggest being a chip on the top right corner of pages 110 - 117. Age tanning to the text pages, which would be common for this type of paper. No former ownership marks, no writing on the text pages. There is some rubbing wear spots to the left side of the cover at the spine. No dust jacket. The printed number on the spine - 2391 - indicates that it is part of a series of books for children that Whitman published in the 1940s. Not a library discard copy. The attached photo is of the copy we have in our inventory.
