Originally published in the US in hard covers by Dutton in 1949 and then in paperback by Signet in 1950. The front cover has slight creasing at the corners. The rear…cover is a little discoloured on the white centre panel with a faint traces of some writing in pencil. The spine is a little rolled with reading creasing, edge rubbing and a little tearing at the bottom. Browning to the pages with a little spotting to the first and last pages and in a few places through the book but the pages are otherwise generally unmarked. Cover illustration by Denis McLoughlin.
