Even though these navigation systems started with standard performance levels, they still face a few problems because of various factors like atmospheric noises, multi-path, signal jammers, and less number of visible satellites. Channel noise for GPS is similar to the all satellite applications and signal jammers are intentional signal degradation. A lot of research has been done to overcome these factors, and better techniques are available currently. However, the fact that only a less number of satellites are visible to determine the location degrades the performance of any positioning system significantly. As a step towards overcoming this problem, IRNSS has launched a seven satellite constellation for its regional navigation system.
