Publisher SRT must be new at the game; item is bound stiffly (its signatures stapled each to each?) and is hard to keep open, but it is sound on its own terms and is clean and unmarked. Features endsheet maps, northern Europe facing a close-up map of the Soviet Zone. Lots of detail; Schaffer says of himself that he "had the best opportunity afforded to date to any foreign journalist" on a stay of ten weeks. See especially p.161 which discusses VD measures, which illuminates Graham Greene's script for Carroll Reed's "The Third Man" movie.
