Book
Paperback. Condition: Very Good. The rebels strike back in a digest-sized series featuring the classic characters from the 'original' trilogy, including Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia! Leia, Han and Chewie are racing to deliver vital information to the Rebel Alliance. But Han allows himself to be distracted with the idea of earning some fast credits. Ignoring pleas from Leia, and the threat of trailing Star Destroyers, Han makes an unscheduled stop to pick up some cargo. Unfortunately, the crate doesn't contain the kind of contraband he was expecting - it's the kidnapped femme fatale, Princess Mi! Featuring all the action, thrills and spills of the movies and an all-ages accessibility, the brand new Star Wars Adventures series is not to be missed! The book has been read, but is in excellent condition. Pages are intact and not marred by notes or highlighting. The spine remains undamaged.

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Ransom is the practice of holding a prisoner or item to extort money or property to secure their release, or it can refer to the sum of money involved. In early Germanic law a similar concept was called Weregild. Julius Caesar was captured by pirates near the island of Pharmacusa and held until someone paid 50 talents to free him. It also refers to demanding concessions from a person or organization by threatening damaging action. In Europe during the Middle Ages, ransom became an important custom of chivalric warfare. An important knight, especially nobility or royalty, was worth a significant sum of money if captured, but nothing if he was killed. For this reason, the practice of ransom contributed to the development of heraldry, which allowed knights to advertise their identities, and by implication their ransom value, and made them less likely to be killed out of hand. Examples include Richard the Lion Heart and Bertrand du Guesclin.

First Edition
First hardback editions, first printings. Flanagan's popular medieval fantasy series was first published in his native Australia in the less desirable paperback format. Complete sets in first printings of these hardback Philomel editions, which are also the first American editions, are rarely offered in commerce. The series won numerous awards, sold millions of copies internationally, and spent 81 weeks on the New York Times list of bestselling children's series. Philomel's president Michael Green stated that, on reading the first draft of The Ruins of Gorlan, "I knew in my gut that I was reading something special. John has a unique ability to create both world and characters that feel real, yet touch the edge of the fantastic, to the point that everything is completely believable and nothing is so far-fetched that it feels like pure fantasy" (cited in Lodge). Sally Lodge, "John Flanagan Adds to Ranger's Apprentice and Launches New Series", Publisher's Weekly, 13 Oct. 2011. 12 works, octavo. Original boards with spine lettering in various colours. With dust jackets. Bumps to ends and corners, as often, crease and closed tear to terminal blank of The Battle for Skandia, all contents clean; bright unclipped jackets with occasional creasing: a near-fine set in fine jackets.
