Signed limited edition story by Alfred Edgar Coppard (1878-1957), born in Folkestone, who overcame the poverty of his upbringing and moved to Oxford as a clerk in 1907. In 1919, he gave up his paid employment to set up as a full time writer, his first short story collection being published by the Golden Cockerel Press in 1921.
