Nel complesso, esemplare in più che buono stato di conservazione. L opera di Vegezio è qui nella prima rara edizione del tipografo Wechel che poi la ristampò nel 1534 e nel 1553. Oltre che per il commento dell umanista francese Guillaume Budé, questa edizione è particolarmente apprezzata per le grandi xilografie che trasportano il testo di Vegezio in un contesto prettamente rinascimentale nel quale predominano gli aspetti legati all ingegno e alla fantasia umana. In questo ambito risultano davvero affascinanti le invenzioni e gli svariati stratagemmi raffigurati per scalare le mura delle fortificazioni o per costruire le più diverse macchine belliche.
