In this work, I have attempted to use problems with some solutions which are drawn from my Indian experience and relying on my training in California, USA, where rote learning is discouraged. For a developing country like India, where memorising has been inculcated from childhood, the graduating student has difficulty in facing real world problems of a practical and technical nature. This being so, the big companies are hesitant to hire from all but a few top colleges and Universities, and that too only from the top percentiles. As a result, the Indian Industry has relied heavily on imported and licensed technology to a large extent.
